Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone is having a lovely Easter Sunday.
This is a holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Christ throughout the Christian world. For me, I have always saw Easter as more than a time that symbolizes resurrection but also rebirth. As this holiday have always fallen toward the first half of spring, and this year specifically, a day before Earth Day, I can’t help think of the plants & trees as they wake up from their long wintry slumber to once again give birth to lovely flowers & leaves. So what better way to honor this time than with Vrksasana or Tree Pose? Tree Pose is a wonderful pose to feel grounded and rooted to the earth while the balancing aspect helps the mind to focus. As I have mentioned in the past, this pose has so many benefits such as strengthen the legs, thighs, calves, & spine, while opening the hips by stretching the groin & inner thighs, not to mention the chest & shoulders. Because we are balancing on one leg, we can allow ourselves to surrender in the moment that can help quiet the mind and stay focused while strengthening the ankle & knees. This pose also helps to relieve sciatic, reduces flat feet & prevents hernias by strengthening the internal oblique muscles. Finally this pose improves circulation, respiration and kidney functioning while stimulating the nervous system, digestion and helps relieve constipation. So join me this week, as we continue to honor the idea of resurrection & rebirth.
