Hi Everyone,

Is everyone ready for the fall season to arrive? Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot of how the return to our regularly scheduled routine combined with the slight change in weather has left some to feel a bit frazzled. I myself have been noticing that my body and joints have been a bit achy lately, leaving me to feel unsteady and a bit anxious. What to do when this happens? Find postures that can be a bit more grounding and stable to calm the body & mind. So with that in mind, allow me to introduce Paschimottanasana or Seated Forward Fold as the “Feature Yoga Pose of the Week”. As many of you may know, paschimottanasana is a staple throughout my classes. After a series of challenging standing sequences, I have always found the seated forward fold to be very calming and grounding. This is a great pose to help calm the brain while relieving stress and mild depression, soothes headaches, anxiety and reduces fatigue. Not only does it stretch the spine, shoulders and hamstrings, but it also helps to improve digestion, stimulate the liver, kidneys, ovaries and uterus. It can also be therapeutic for high blood pressure and insomnia. Whew! With all these great benefits, is it no wonder I chose Paschimottanasana to start of the fall season?
